The helm features a high level of craftsmanship throughout its construction. All components are finely finished and well-connected in their assembly. All rivets are evenly spaced and set throughout the helm’s construction. The entire piece has been burnished to a high sheen. Both before and after the Viking era, helmet bowls were made from one piece of iron, hammered into shape. However, during the Viking era, helmets typically were made from several pieces of iron riveted together called a spangenhelm style of helm. This Viking Helmet is beautifully crafted in 18 gauge mild steel.
